SENSE WORKS
Humans have 5 senses. Taste, touch, scent, sight and sound. Each of these sensations inspire my work, in particular the way in which senses can reduce my stress levels and allows a mindfully led practice. The work below expresses my life through 3D printed sound waves; each sound represents a different personal experience. The works are made from PLA, built with a support of PVA, and are all roughly 270mm tall, and 40mm wide.

KODA
Chirping at birds
Koda sits and chirps at birds, bugs and anything that moves from the window. Cats do not need to make this noise in the wild, and only communicate this way to talk to people, though for some reason he continues to make these noises when I am not even in the room. The noise makes me happy, he always seems be in such a day dream.

KENAI
Purring whilst relaxing
Every single morning and evening, just as I am drifting in and out of consciousness, Kenai will come and sit on my chest, purring loudly in my face. When my eyes are closed and all I can hear is this noise, and feel his warmth, it is a sound that I can only associate with comfort and love.

ENGINE
Humming whilst stationary
When I am feeling low the best way that I have found to relax me is to lock myself in my car alone. When I turn the engine on, all I can hear is the irregular purring and stuttering of the car, and the occasional patter of rain in bad weather. Focussing on this for half an hour draws me back and removes all of my stress.
